London Police arrest man involved in an armed robbery in Manchester, Ky.

unnamedLONDON KY—On Wednesday, Sept. 28 at approximately 12 p.m. London Police were dispatched to search for a vehicle involved in a possible armed robbery in Manchester, Ky. at the Family Dollar store. Through conducting a search within the London area, William J. Hacker, 33, of Richmond, Ky. was arrested near KY 472 Spur.

Ofc. Jordan Hopkins, Det. Sgt. Gary Proffitt, Det. Sgt. Joe Smith, and Sgt. Daniel Robinson immediately began searching KY 80, KY 192, and the Hal-Rogers Parkway for a vehicle matching the description of a black spray painted extended cab truck.  car

Det. Sgt. Smith and Ofc. Hopkins recognized a vehicle matching the description on the Halparkway and initiated a traffic stop between KY 472 and KY 192. During the traffic stop, the subject fled in his vehicle headed west on the parkway, made a hard left into entrance into Lipari Energy causing a tractor trailer to veer off the roadway. He then nearly hit a construction worker at Lipari Energy, and continued fleeing from police off-road.

Hacker crashed the vehicle off a cliff and continued to flee on foot. Sgt. Robinson noticed a male and female subject walking down an embankment near KY 472 Spur. Immediately, Sgt. Robinson placed both subjects on ground, Hacker stood up, resisted arrest injuring Sgt. Robinson’s temple. Sgt. Robinson and officers from the London Police Department were assisted by deputies from the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department as they pursued Hacker who continued to flee on foot. Hacker was apprehended within 30 yards.

Cassie Seals, 26, of Berea, Ky. was taken into custody for questioning in relation to the investigation of the armed robbery. Hacker damaged three officer’s uniforms while being apprehended and a gray plastic handgun was located within plain view of the truck’s floorboard.

Hacker was arrested and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), third-degree assault of a police officer, first-degree wanton endangerment, resisting arrest, and third-degree criminal mischief. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

Chief Chris Fultz of the Manchester Police Department will be filing robbery charges against the two. Both are also suspects in robberies being investigated by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, Richmond Police Department, and Berea Police Department.
