London Police arrest four while investigating a vehicle theft

LONDON KY—On Sunday, at 4:44 p.m. London Police were notified by Dispatch of a tip about a possible stolen vehicle located at a Morentown road residence that was related to a London Police Department theft investigation. London Police discovered two stolen vehicles and arrested four individuals at the residence.

Officers Greg Turner and Drew Wilson arrived at the residence and recognized a red Dodge pick-up truck that had previously been reported stolen. Derek C. Mills, 30,

of Corbin was standing next to the stolen vehicle and appeared to be doing mechanical work on it in the driveway. Police approached Mills and through investigation it was determined the truck was in fact stolen.

The property owners, John H. Goldsberry, 42, and Heather F. Girton, 31, were at the residence where a second stolen truck was located within a building on the property. Goldsberry was observed working on the second truck in the building on Friday, Oct. 7th. The ignition switches and steering columns were damaged on both vehicles.

Also at the residence was Elbert McFadden, 41, of London who had a warrant out for his arrest. Assisting at the scene were Lt. Doug Thomas, Sgt. Richie Reynolds, and Ofc. Ashley Wampler.

Arrested and lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center were:

  • Derek C. Mills, charged with receiving stolen property under $10,000 and second-degree criminal mischief.
  • John H. Goldsberry, charged with receiving stolen property under $10,000

    and second-degree criminal mischief.

  • Heather F. Girton, charged with receiving stolen property under $10,000.
