London Police make a burglary arrest

LONDON KY—The London Police Department responded on Monday, Feb. 22nd at 5:00 a.m. to a call at Dogwood Hills Apartments about a burglary in progress.

Upon Ofc. Daryl Zanet’s arrival, he overheard glass breaking as he stepped out of his cruiser. Ofc. Steven Sparks arrived to assist at the scene and walked to the rear of the apartment building, locating a male still in the process of breaking the rear windows out of one of the apartments.

The male breaking into the residence was Kevin A. Martin, 25, of Grimes Road in London. He told police that he believed he was entering his mother’s apartment who has an active Domestic Violence Order against him. Through investigation, officers learned that Martin was not permitted to be on the property due to ongoing domestic issues with the resident. In addition, the victim of domestic violence within the apartment was not related to Martin.

Martin was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, public intoxication excluding alcohol, violation of Kentucky EPO/DVO, and second-degree criminal trespassing. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
