When Det. Sgt. Joe Smith and Ofc. Drew Wilson arrived at the store they spoke with Dollar General’s Loss Prevention Manager Dwight Washington. He reported that over $10,000 in cash deposits were missing for the past 45 days. He also stated that in a written note the store’s manager for two years, Christina Baker, admitted to taking a smaller amount under $10,000.

Police spoke with Baker and she also admitted to taking a smaller sum of cash from the store. She advised that in April two people moved into her residence who later gave her something to take for a headache when she got off work one day. She stated that she doesn’t remember anything after she took the pill and indicated that one of the two staying with her may have had something to do with the missing deposit. The person Baker named responsible for the missing deposits could not be located and no one at the residence could advise their location.

Baker was arrested and charged with theft by deception including cold checks of $10,000 or more. She was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
