London Police arrest man attempting to steal vehicle

LONDON KY—On Monday, Jan. 29th London Police were Dispatched to West 7th Street where a man was attempting to steal a vehicle. Through investigation, Ryan A. Paolantino, 35, of London was arrested.

The victim stated that a man, Paolantino, was inside his vehicle with a hammer and screw driver hitting the ignition switch. When Paolantino noticed the victim approaching, he took off on foot towards Main Street. Ofc. Greg Turner observed him crossing Main Street and came in contact with him.

When asked about the complaint, Paolantino stated that he had a hammer in his backpack. Located in the backpack with the hammer were two screwdrivers, three needles and a meth pipe. Following a search, a fourth needle was discovered in his t-shirt pocket.

Assisting at the scene was Sgt. Travis Hurley.

Paolantino was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking of an automobile $10,000 or more but under $1,000,000, second-degree criminal mischief, possession of burglary tools and buying/possessing drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
