London Police make a drug arrest on West Carter Road

LONDON KY—On Wednesday, Oct. 24th at 8:38 a.m. London Police were notified by Dispatch of an unconscious female in a vehicle in a parking lot on West Carter Road. Through investigation, Michelle Elkins, 48, of London was arrested.
 
Upon the arrival of Sgt. Randy Medlock and Ofc. Cody Faulconer, they observed Elkins slumped over and unconscious. Once Officers made contact with her it was determined that she was manifestly under the influence. Elkins stated that she took Xanax earlier that day, and consent was given to search the vehicle.
 
While being placed under arrest for public intoxication, a bag was discovered in her front pocket, containing several small baggies containing altogether 5.1 grams of methamphetamine, as well as $841.
 
Once Elkins arrived at the London Police Department, Ofc. Ashley Wampler discovered seven Gabapentin 800mg tablets, 14 Hydrocodone 10mg tablets, and three Suboxone tablets.
 
Elkins was charged with public intoxication as well as first, second, and third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance. She was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
