London Police join statewide Click-It or Ticket campaign

LONDON KY—Between May 20th and June 2nd London Police will be participating in the annual Click It or Ticket high-visibility seat-belt enforcement campaign. The zero-tolerance campaign’s focus is to save lives and create awareness for roadway safety.

The campaign coincides with Memorial Day weekend, one of the busiest holiday weekends of the year for travelers. London Police will be out day and night strictly enforcing laws regarding seat-belt usage as well as impaired driving, speeding, and proper child safety seat usage. In addition, officers will be conducting safety check-points.

“Making a traffic stop is desired over notifying a family that their loved one involved in a fatal collision – wasn’t wearing a seat-belt,” said London Police Chief Darrel Kilburn.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), when worn correctly, seat-belts are proven to reduce the risk of fatal injury to front-seat occupants by 45 percent and by 60 percent in pickup trucks, SUVs, and minivans.
